Bitcoin's market cap dominance has soared to 54.5%, its highest point since July 2021, based on data from TradingView. This dominance is calculated by dividing Bitcoin's market cap by the total market cap of the top 125 cryptocurrencies and multiplying by 100. This notable increase in Bitcoin's dominance might indicate an upcoming altcoin bull run.
Glassnode co-founders support this perspective, indicating that investors are gravitating towards riskier assets with higher return potential. This trend is reflected in recent market activities. On Thursday, the tech-focused Nasdaq index dropped by over 2%, while the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM), which tracks small-cap stocks, increased by more than 3%. This shift towards riskier assets might also extend to the cryptocurrency market, potentially benefiting both Bitcoin and altcoins.
Analysts have pointed out that similar market behavior was observed in November 2020, when a notable move towards riskier assets occurred. The current market conditions suggest that investors are again seeking higher returns through riskier investments, which could positively impact the broader cryptocurrency market.
