The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) made its debut at the Blockchain Life Dubai event. Recently, Italian researcher Silvia Semenzin of the GRASIA Research Group at the Institute of Knowledge Technology, Complutense University of Madrid, explored the concept of "blockchain for good" in a research article published on Sage Journals.
Describing itself as a "collaborative network of organizations, projects, and individuals dedicated to harnessing blockchain technology to address global social, environmental, and economic challenges," the BGA has formed partnerships with a diverse range of blockchain-based organizations. These partners include Bybit Web3, Solana Foundation, Aptos, Moledao, Harvard Blockchain Club, ICP.Hub UAE, American University of Sharjah (AUS), Coineasy, Libera, Edu3Labs, Alchemy Pay, Bu Zhi DAO, and XueDAO.
The newly established organization will function as an incubator for blockchain technology, as stated on its website. It aims to facilitate networking opportunities by connecting developers with mentors, resources, and events.
According to Semenzin, many efforts to utilize blockchain technology for social good are either driven by profit motives or lack an understanding of the varying financial circumstances across different socioeconomic classes.
Operating as a non-profit entity, the Blockchain for Good Alliance seeks to alleviate concerns typically associated with technology-driven initiatives aimed at social good.
